ABOUT NR3STRING

Built for tennis players

NR3String was set up to provide fast, friendly and professional stringing and racket services for tennis players in Norwich city centre. There are several great stringers in the area, but none who specialise exclusively in tennis.

We carry a wide range of specialist strings from industry-leading brands like Yonex and Babolat, as well as emerging boutique brands such as ReString that you might not find at other UK shops.

We're on court pretty much every day and have playtested every string we stock, so can help advise you on what strings might suit your game, and how to get the most out of your racket setup.

Why Our customers Love Us

"As an ex professional tennis player and teaching pro of 30+ years, I've never had a stringing service so reliable and prompt - and even more importantly, so consistent. My racquets are strung perfectly every time. I couldn't recommend Tom any more. Perfection"

ANY QUESTIONS?

Simply complete the contact form above, email us or message us on Instagram. We will get in touch with you to discuss your order, provide a quote and make arrangements to collect and restring your racket.

You can drop your racket off to us at our workshop on Magdalen Road in Norwich city centre (NR3 4LQ), or we can arrange to meet at a mutually convenient location, or even collect your racket from your home for an additional fee. We can discuss all of this when you make an enquiry.

Our typical turnaround time is 72h, but this depends on how busy things are and we try to be faster where possible. We also offer a rush service on request for an additional fee. If you need an urgent restring for a match etc let us know and we’ll do what we can to accommodate it!

While we have some examples of our strings above on this page, our stocks are constantly changing. For an up to date list of availability and prices, email us, call us or drop us a message on Instagram and we’ll come back to you with a full list.

If there’s a string you want that we don’t have in stock, let us know! We have accounts with suppliers covering most tennis strings, so if there’s something we don’t have in stock we can usually source it for you at a competitive price.

Not really – we specialise in tennis, but have friends who specialise in squash and badminton rackets that we could refer you to, so get in touch and we’d be happy to help point you in the right direction.

We’re based on Magdalen Road, Norwich (NR3). You’re welcome to drop off and collect your racket(s) here, or we can arrange to deliver to you or meet you elsewhere if preferred.

We will send you an invoice with comprehensive information about your string job (racket, string, tension, strung date etc) and you pay when you collect your restrung racket.

Yes! Lots of our clients get multiple matched rackets restrung at the same time. This saves us time, and we pass that saving on to you. Get in touch for a quote.

We also offer affiliate discounts to coaches, club captains etc who recommend our services to their players, team mates and friends. Get in touch for more info.

This really depends on the type of strings you have, and the type of player you are. The old rule of thumb is “as many times a year as the number of hours you play a week”, i.e. if you 3 hours a week you should restring every 4 months.

This approach can work well for players using multifilament or synthetic gut strings, as they can generally be played until they break, but polyester strings “die” long before they break, losing their elasticity and notching (causing the string bed to lock up). This depends on the string and the player, but is generally between 8h and 20h. Playing with dead poly strings can lead to serious arm issues including Tennis Elbow, which is partly why we wouldn’t usually recommend poly strings to casual players.

Strings also lose tension over time, and you might find you want to restring when you start losing control over your shots. People who play a lot can usually *feel* when it’s time to restring.

If you’re unsure if it’s time to restring your racket, let us know and we’ll be happy to advise you.

We use a well-maintained, professional grade electronic constant pull machine with 6-point mounting system and diamond dusted clamps.

(We also have an old drop weight machine we can use if you prefer!)
